If you’re considering using Talkspace to help manage your mental health, you may be wondering if there is any financial aid available.

The good news is that there are a few different ways to get money for your Talkspace sessions.

In this blog, we’ll look at all the options available so that you can decide what’s best for you – but please note in general Talkspace is best if you have insurance, or if your employer offers support for mental health coverage.

Please know that we bought Talkspace and documented our experiences. We also answered some of the most common questions about it, which you can see in the video gallery below.

Financial Aid Through Talkspace

Talkspace no longer offers financial aid. However, Talkspace does accept insurance and EAPs which are not considered financial aid but may still help lower costs, as documented in this video:

No Talkspace Financial Aid, But How About A Discount?

If you are looking for financial aid for Talkspace, unfortunately, the company does not offer such. However, there are other discounts available to help make therapy more affordable for you:

  • A quarterly subscription saves 10% for online and teen therapy plans
  • A bi-annual subscription saves 20% for online and teen therapy plans
  • At the top of the Talkspace website is a $100 discount for first-time users (code “SPACE”)

It is important to prioritize your mental health and seek out the resources that work best for you.

Remember, therapy is an investment in yourself and your well-being.

Does Talkspace Offer Group Sessions?

If you are wondering whether Talkspace offers group sessions, the answer is no. The closest Talkspace gets to group therapy is Couples Therapy.

Is Talkspace FSA Eligible?

If you are wondering whether Talkspace is FSA-eligible, the answer is yes.

According to the FSA Store1, medical or mental health therapy is eligible for reimbursement with a flexible spending account (FSA).

This means that you can use your pre-tax dollars to pay for Talkspace therapy sessions.

It’s important to note that while Talkspace isn’t available through Medicare or Medicaid, they are partnered with several employers and U.S. health plans. Using HSA or FSA dollars for Talkspace online therapy is a great way to save money as well.

With these accounts, you use the pre-taxed income you’ve set aside specifically for healthcare expenses.

How Do I Pay For Talkspace?

If you’re wondering how to pay for Talkspace, there are several options available. Talkspace accepts major credit and debit cards, as well as FSA/HSA cards. They also accept insurance from select providers, and you can check your eligibility on their website.

If you don’t have insurance or prefer to pay out of pocket, Talkspace offers self-pay plans.

Talkspace benefit code

If you’re wondering about the Talkspace benefit code, there are a few things to keep in mind.

While Talkspace isn’t covered by Medicare or Medicaid, there are several employers, U.S. health plans, and Employee Assistance Programs that offer coverage for the service. To access counseling through Talkspace at no cost to you, you’ll need an EAP Code from your employer.

Simply call your employer to get this code and start using Talkspace’s services (if Talkspace is within your company’s in-network).

Many people who would not otherwise seek help will benefit greatly from the ability to meet with a therapist conveniently over the phone.

For example, according to BAE Systems Benefits2 (which is an employee EAP):

All BAE Systems employees and their household members have free access to Talkspace, a text and video-based therapy service that connects you to a dedicated, licensed therapist in your state whom you can privately text message or chat via live video anytime, anywhere. Talkspace is FREE to all BAE Systems employees and their household members. You do NOT need to be enrolled in a Cigna medical plan to use this benefit.

Does your employee offer an EAP?

If you’re looking for convenient and affordable mental health support, and you have an EAP or insurance, Talkspace may be a good option for you.

Talkspace Financial Aid Application

If you are looking for a financial aid application to use Talkspace, unfortunately, the platform does not offer financial assistance and therefore Talkspace has no financial aid application.

Overall, finding financial aid for mental health services through Talkspace is not feasible. However, Talkspace does work with a variety of insurance providers and company employee assistance programs.

While insurance and EAPs traditionally do not count as financial aid, they nonetheless help reduce costs.
